コース内容

Studying Japanese, experiencing Japanese culture such as tea ceremony and Japanese sweets making, activities such as rafting and canoeing… This summer, Nagoya JaLS has prepared a special summer course for students studying Japanese in Japan, which offers many experiences. Spend this summer in Nagoya, a city full of festivals such as the Nippon Domannaka Festival (one of the three major Yosakoi festivals in Japan), the Nagoya Castle Festival and the Hisaya Odori dance festival.

Summer in Nagoya is extremely exciting with the Nippon Domannaka Festival, one of the three major Yosakoi festivals in Japan, the Nagoya Castle Festival and the Hisaya Odori dance Festival. Practice and preparations for the festivals begin in all sorts of places in the lead-up to the festivals, and the whole of Nagoya is enveloped in the anticipation of the festivities. One of the best parts of coming to study in Nagoya in the summer is being able to commute to school every day during this time!

"Excellent teaching and very nice facilities"

Liked:
- All teachers were at least decent, and several were really excellent (Takashi and my private tutor Michiko in particular)
- Group activities (though I couldn't go to many due to private lessons) were fun
- Good group of diverse students

Disliked
- The apartment arranged for me was not great - very small, only one small pillow, the cheapest possible towels etc. This is probably at least partly my fault - it was very cheap, and that's a good thing, particularly given that most of JaLS' students are probably younger and poorer than I. If I came again, I would arrange my own apartment directly.
