• Irish culture and history
In this session the students develop a greater understanding of the culture of Ireland as well as the events and people which have influenced its rich history. Topics will include the Gaelic language, the Irish war of independence , Irish myths and legends, St Patrick’s day and Irish literature
• Mid-week excursion
Students research a place they will visit on a mid week excursion, then after their visit they will present their findings and finally contrast these findings with their own culture.
• Creative projects
Students have the opportunity to develop their ability to think creatively, work creatively and collaboratively with others to share their innovative ideas through different presentation styles such as pecha kucha, video reportage or a blog.
• English language in use
Students look at content in English from a reading text or video, analysis its language features and practise using this language in engaging, meaningful speaking or writing tasks.
• Measuring progress
Each student keeps a Learner Portfolio to encourage learning skills, self-assessment and reflection. Individual coaching sessions allow students to monitor and improve their performance.
• Social and week-end activities
OISE provides a complete programme of carefully organised social and week-end activities to ensure that students get the most from their stay. Saturday excursions might include day trips to Dublin or Kilkenny Castle. On-site afternoon and evening activities will include Irish sports, arts & crafts, Irish dancing, discos, talent shows and team games.

OISE offers a transfer service from Dublin airport to the school,students will be greeted in arrivals by OISE staff. The school is only 20 minutes from Dublin Airport.
The transfer is included in the course fee if the student lands between 10:00 and 19:00 on the Sunday before the course starts and departs between 12:00 and 19:00 on the Saturday after the course ends. Please also note that only Dublin Airport should be used.
Gormanston is a small, idyllic village on the Delvin River north of the lively capital Dublin. The city centre has just 400 inhabitants, a small and warm village community. There is also a holy spring there, which can cure eye diseases according to stories. Further landmarks of the small village are the Cock Pub, which is the oldest public building in Ireland.
