"If I understood correctly, the student would be at the host family and the host does have some work that she has to do that week until 4 or 3:30 but will continue lessons after or give the student work in the day."

The host is a teacher in a school, so she goes to work in the morning, and comes home at about 3.30-4 p.m., at which time she would do the hours of lessons booked with the student. She could also set work for him to do during her absence, and either her or her husband would pop home each day at lunchtime to have lunch with him.
